Rodney Brown, Class A Superintendent
Rodney has been in the golf course maintenance business for over 14 years. Originally from High Point, North Carolina, he currently resides in Coral Springs with his wife Carolyn. Rodney has worked at Woodlands Country Club, Okeeheelee Golf Course and John Prince Golf Learning Center. Rodney is a Class A member of the Golf Course Superintendent’s Association of America and earned his degree in turfgrass management from Penn State University. In his spare time he enjoys golf, fishing and playing music.
Joey Powers, Assistant Superintendent
Joey Powers is an Assistant Superintendent who works with the Superintendent to direct and participate in the maintenance of the golf course including tees, greens, fairways, bunkers, cart paths and the rough. He helps to supervise the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and assists the superintendent in supervising the crew and dispersing daily crew work assignments. Joey has been a lover of golf since his teenage years. He enjoyed the game so much he decided to go into the golf industry. Joey is a graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, graduating in the top of his class with a Bachelor’s of Applied Science in Turf Grass and Golf Course Management.
Joey believes that golf is a challenging yet peaceful and relaxing sport that everyone should enjoy and loves working outdoors to ensure that the course is at its best for golf lovers to play on. Before graduating Joey did three internships: The first being at Forest Lakes Golf Club in Tifton Georgia, where they completely built a new driving range. The second being at Cobblestone Golf Course in Acworth Georgia where he participated in completely re-sodding all of the Tee boxes. The third internship being at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he helped set up for the Broadmoor Invitational. While attending school Joey worked at the Forest Lakes Golf Course. Joey is very passionate about golf and is excited to continue his career in the golf industry.
Tommi Ylijoki, PGA Professional
Tommi Ylijoki comes to Delray Beach Golf Club after holding various positions throughout Florida. A PGA Member, Tommi originally hails from Finland, and has been playing golf for nearly 30 years.
After graduating from the University of Florida in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in History, Tommi spent the next 4 years as the First Assistant Golf Professional and Head Teaching Professional at Haile Plantation Golf & Country Club. Coming down to south Florida, Tommi joined the JCD Sports Group team as an Assistant Golf Professional at West Palm Beach Golf Course. Tommi now serves as Head Golf Professional at Delray Beach Golf Club, managing all daily Golf Operations. During his free time, Tommi enjoys travelling, exercising, and spending time with family and friends.
Rick Durham, PGA Professional
Mr. Durham has been a PGA Professional for over 24 years. Prior to joining the JCD team Mr. Durham was Head Professional at Cypress Creek Country Club for 26 years. Mr. Durham specializes in all phases of junior instruction and assisted area schools with their golf programs. He has been providing adult group and individual instruction for 34 years. Mr. Durham has organized and directed many group and corporate outings and is a skilled calligrapher. Mr. Durham has had three published instruction articles in ‘Golf Illustrated’ magazine. He is certified in all phases of club building and repair. While in college he played on the FAU Golf team which were 1976 NAIA section champions and has competed in many state and local golf tournaments.
Chef Bob Courtemanche
I grew up in Uxbridge, MA, and I’ve been in the restaurant business since the age of 13. I graduated from Johnson & Wales University, and continued my career in the Worcester area before moving to Florida recently. My first three and one-half years in Florida were spent working at Boca West Country Club, followed by Compass Group, Inc.
Beth Mullen Director of Catering and Banquet Services
Ms. Mullen is a graduate of the University of Illinois and has been at the Delray Beach Golf Club since 1998. She has moved through the corporate ladder and was promoted to the Director of Catering in 2002. Her wonderful attitude and level of dedication has meant a significant increase in customer loyalty and monthly sales volume. Ms. Mullen is the point person for coordinating banquets, weddings, private parties or any celebration. Her attention to detail and customer satisfaction has turned the Delray Beach Golf Club facility into a desired location for intimate, glamorous or fun affairs.
Starting his career in catering in the set up department, outstanding work ethic led to his promotion to banquet captain. Years of dedication and hard work at Boca West country club led to a catering management position in one of the largest and finest catering departments in south Florida.
